140th Birth Anniversary of Dr. Shrikrishna Sinha (Sri Babu)

 Sri Babu (21.10.1887 to 31st January1961)

In the land where the Ganges river flows,
A story of a brave leader grows.
Born to lead with a heart so grand,
He changed the fate of our beautiful land.
Oh, sing of the leader, so brave and free,
Sri Babu, our Bihar Kesari!
With a voice so loud and eyes so bright,
He stood against British Empire to fight for the right.
Many years in a jail, through the dark and the cold,
For the freedom of India, loving and bold!
When the nation woke up to a bright new day,
He started his work without any delay.
As Bihar’s first Chief Minister, he guided the way,
To make the state better and happier each day.
He broke down the walls that kept people apart,
Holding the poor very close to his heart.
With thousands of books sitting on his shelves,
He taught us to learn and believe in ourselves.
So remember Bihar Kesari who taught us to stand,
To bring love and peace to all in our land.
On his hundred and fortieth year, let us remember his life and say:
"We will learn from your life and follow your teachings, Sri Babu, today!"

I have been passionate about long drives since my young days, when 300–400 km in a day used to feel like an achievement. With gradual improvements in road infrastructure, especially after 2005, driving 700–1000 km in a day became manageable. The power of silence and solitude is not easily felt. For roughly one decade, I have been trying to experience this elusive state. I explored several manners of techniques and tools, yet it continues to elude me. I spent considerable time in the Himalayas, embarked on several long solo journeys both within country and abroad, read countless books and articles, and practiced meditation and yoga. Throughout this journey, I try to develop a non-reactive mindset while continuing to work. What amazes me in this process is that the murmuring self never allows you to rest in silence, even in the deep mountains where you are completely alone. What I come to understand is that the inner self is the primary obstacle to meaningful silence and solitude. I try to work on this realization, observing all sorts of communication with my inner self while trying not to be reactive or repetitive.
