DoT, GoI soft stand on Rcom AGR dues

Year 2020 is a silver jubilee year for mobile phones in India. It was started in 1995 by a call between Sri Jyoti Basu, CM, WB with telecom minister Sri Sukhram. Since then this sector has not looked back and immensely contributed for the transformation of India in several sectors after 1991 liberalization. It is growing leaps and bounds and currently having more than billion users. But the last 25 years was full of a coaster ride in mobile telephony in India.  Large numbers of companies were involved in providing mobile telecom services because the sector presents a new opportunity but haphazard planning and monitoring, too many players, small and big alike, spectrum allotment and absence of clear enforceable guidelines and lack of capacity of DOT and TRAI in managing the growth has fare share of controversy as well. The sector was marred by lot of controversy and the most notable one was 2G scam and which become one of the reason...

Mindless Gold Rush

Image
Second time in this century world-wide mindless rush for Gold has been witnessed. First in 2008-2009 during financial crisis and the second still in progress during Corona pandemic. But this time it is speedier and in a very short time Gold prices reached a new level. Gold has been for centuries a dead investment product but psychologically very fulfilling as a possession to feel good. It does not have any sustainable growth potential but soothes the nerves as a hedge product during difficult times. So, it fit perfectly well during Corona outbreak to possess and feel the power of yellow metal. Gold and its associated generational feelings passed from generation to generation has maintained its glitter and genetic response to own it. It has no parallel and stand out as the most precious possession generation by generation. Older civilizations of India and Italy has much more fascination and crave for yellow metal and it is not only individual but family tradition and custom to own...

Bulls are in control in spite of the Stock Market Worldwide seems to be disconnected from reality

Stock market is the one market where fear, grid, fickleness, panic response, anxiety  rules and most of the time with all above human fear related attributes  it tries to reflect real and logical with  the futuristic trend based on the health of real economy. But it is no where near to it. This market always discounts / credits the future happening in the sector/industry or specific stock and pare down or adjusts the prices much before the bad news or results reaches investors. Most of the time big operators, FPIs, Mutual funds and big broking houses takes a call much in advance giving no time for small retail investors. Small retail investors then take a call either too high or too low. So, this market is also full of cartelisation, insiders passing information and now a days AI to keep doing analysis of millions of daily trades to find out precise exit and entry for big fund houses. They in fact rule the market with ease, cutting technology at t...

Hong Kong set to lose charm as a Study Destination

Image
The tussle between democratic minded Hong Kong citizens and main land Chinese government has increased to new level in last one year. The life at Hong Kong got affected with regular barb and clashes with pro mainland Hong Kong government and freedom loving Honk Kong citizens. Last year marked too many protests almost every week with some very violent clashes with the police  by pro democracy people against increasing control of Hong Kong by Main land China.  And finally a new bill has been passed to curb several such freedoms granted to Hong Kong people.  It means slowly Hong Kong will replicate Mainland China in terms of curbing people’s freedom and their social/civic rights. Same restrictions will apply here .This is not a good news for the Hong Kong and its people. It will lose its status of one of the busiest World financial center  and also an open cosmopolitan, multicultural, democratic society as Special Administered Region (SAR) of China...

Removal of Chinese Mandarin from the list of foreign language option in India

The new education policy (NEP) 2020 has surprisingly removed Mandarin from the foreign language option and won’t be available for students anymore. One can understand the current border stand-off between China and India which precipitated such action. May be Confucius institute around the world teaching Mandarin under cloud but omitting Mandarin from the foreign language list in India is certainly a over reaction. I am sure closing the door all of a sudden on Mandarin is not a futuristic decision. Mandarin is also one of the UN language and spoke by more than 150 crore people. It is not a small number. Language always provide us an insight to the peoples thinking, its culture and deep sensibilities as a communication medium directly one to one rather than getting it translated. Translation loses the soul out of it.        We cannot redraw the boundary with China and we will remain a neighbor  either as friends, enemy or none, it actually should depends on pe...

Moment of Triumph for the believer of Eternal Maryada Purushottam Ram

Wednesday, 5th August 2020 will go in the World History and more particularly in Indian History for several centuries as the moment of triumph for the believer and worshiper of Sri Ram as the foundation was laid for grand Ram temple at the same place where it existed till 1528.    1528 was the year when Ram temple was demolished at Ayodhya and Babri Masjid was erected on the same land. It was a most cowardly and sinister act in the human history done during initial Mughal rules (1527-1761) in India. The Hindu faith were compromised , tormented through this act to send a subtle message to the majority Hindu community that their religious freedom , dignity  at stake with advent of alien muslin rule in the country. It was a moment of shame, fear, angst and frustration for the Hindu community in India and of their utter helplessness to stop such action. It left a strong imprint on the heart and mind of Hindus and it passes generation to generatio...

National Digital Health Mission (NDHM): A mission within National Health Mission (NHM) 2017

I remember adoption of National Health Mission (NHM) 2017 after merger of National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) 2005 and National Urban Health Mission (NUHM) 2014, which presents a holistic approach to improve health care services in the country. It envisage the "Continuum of Care " and seek to end the fragmentation of health care services across the country by increasing access to health services, improving quality of health service from Primary Health Centre (PHC) to Tertiary level and significant lowering of the cost of health care delivery by leveraging digital technology. NHM 2017 vision is to build comprehensive health ecosystem on the latest digital architecture and technologies.      It visualizes use of digital technology at all level, component and stakeholders. Care providers to care takers, testing to diagnostics, education to training, medicines to vaccines and above all building a system where mobility of data, record and diagnosi...
