Don't Criticize Past, Learn from it and Build on it

These days media and particularly digital/social media are full of past references to almost every aspect of life in India. Be it the development of country, culture, religion, poverty alleviation, politics, external affairs , India-China relations, India-Pakistan relations, you name it any and there is backlash. It seems that after independence only after 2014 India has moved. There are propaganda like 6 years versus 60 years etc.

There are clear goal of these propaganda but a sizable number of educated people with understanding of the situation has also become part of this brigade to denounce our past. They become critical individually as well.

Why this is happening ? and why people without thinking too much become part of this propaganda machinery  and started criticizing the earlier periods since independence . One thing is very clear that they don't have any interest in going to the details and become part of the crowd and to some extent hypnotized by the daily doses of such news in media and become prey to it.

Our country is young republic and moving forward in right direction and each generation and its leaders  has contributed immensely to it. Be it the first PM Nehru Ji,  followed by Shastri Ji, Indira Gandhi, Morarji Desai, Rajiv Gandhi, Narsimha Rao, Vajpai Ji , Manmohan Singh and current PM taking this forward. 70 years for a new  nation is no age it is still in infancy.

No time-period in history is comparable. Every time period comes with its unique situation and unique challenges and opportunity  and things got implemented with the best ability and resources available during that particular period. Nehru Ji took this country to newer heights with the available resources and prevailing situation during 60s. He did his best. The industrialization policy, public sector enterprises , IITs and IIMs are some of the examples of its visionary initiatives. Even after humiliation by China in 62 , Nehru Ji was loved by the country and congress remains in power for 15 more years. It shows that during that time citizens of India  understand the constraints. But after 50 years of 62 war the Indian people and media become critical of Nehru Ji, looks like a fault finding mission of Nehru Ji from his personal to political life. I don't know why ! In place of learning from  62 we are criticizing the past which will take this country further down and create social disharmony, animosity between people and political parties.

Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Subhash Bose, Nehru Ji, Gokhale, Tilak , Ambedkar, Azad, Bhagat Singh, Rajendra Prasad, Govind Ballabh Pant, Bidhan Chnadra Ray, Sri Babu and many more devoted their life to build independent and  modern India. Being human being they were also prone to mistakes but their contribution to make modern India is far far greater than any such mistakes if we think made by them after 50 years. They are the living Soul of India.

Criticizing them in fact shows our character, it will weaken the foundation of modern India and also it questions our ability to understand that out forefathers stood with them during that time period. In fact criticizing and abusing our great leaders also means criticizing and abusing our fore fathers who supported  and voted them with trust to run the nation . They did their best during  that time period and we need to accept it with whole heart and openness  and learn from any mistakes/negligence /lapses , if any made during that time.

The life of a nation is very similar to the collective lives of its citizens , generation by generation. Each generation contributes and build further on previous generation work/idea/thoughts with overarching vision and goal remains the same. No two generation can be comparable in same way as time passes. Each moment has its own situation and way and the work done in that particular moment would be the best in that time period . We can only debate it after that, it should be like this and like that.... so it gives us a very strong message that accept the past with whole heart and improve it , build on it and pass it to next generation without being critical of the individual and persons who nurtured in past.
